New Knox Hanbury Short Cuff Studio Gloves

New Knox Hanbury Short Cuff Studio Gloves

July 2, 2016 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

Having small hands, I’ve always liked short cuff summer gloves. If you’re not in a set of one-piece race leathers, a shorter length glove can make life a lot easier, particularly if you wear a few different jackets. Even when I had the latest, top-of-the-range race gloves for track days and full-on trips, it tended to be the short cuff mid-range gloves I had which saw the most use. Which is why I’m definitely tempted by the new Knox Hanbury Short Cuff Studio Gloves.

The black design means that they’ll suit whatever jacket you’re wearing, with 0.8mm cow hide leather to offer a good level of protection. You also get low profile Knox SPS scaphoid protection for the palm which shouldn’t get in the way of anything except protecting the potentially vulnerable bones in your wrist. Plus four individual gel protectors for your knuckles.

The Knox Hanbury Short Cuff Studio Gloves also have a Clarino overlay on the palm. That’s the bit that looks and feels like suede, but stays soft and grippy even when wet. And there are accordion stretch leather panels on the fingers and thumb to allow you to move your hands around. Vents are specifically mentioned, but there looks to be some small holes on the fingers – given the typical British Spring/Summer/Winter, you’re probably better off without lots of air and water getting in, to be honest…

There’s a stretch-to-fit leather cuff fastened with Velcro to keep the gloves on your hands. And the Knox Hanbury Short Cuff Studio Gloves come in sizes S-XXL for a very reasonable £69.99. That’s a pretty competitive price for some versatile hand protection. Apparently Hanbury is a village in Worcestershire close to the M5 motorway, so hopefully the 1,000 or so people that live there will be proud to have a stylish English motorcycle glove named after them? I’m certainly tempted to check  our a pair of the Knox Hanbury gloves and see if the Small is suitable for my paws – if so, I might have to dig out some cash to give them a proper test…
