More Ducati motorcycles have been sold in the first six months of 2015 than ever before. The Bologna-based purveyors of red Italian motorcycles shifted 32,600 bikes around the world. The year has also already seen a new record for sales in on month (June, 2015 with 7,400). That record for one month sales included the best 30 days Ducati has had in their largest market, North America, with more than 1,900 bikes sold, and Japan, with more than 500 motorcycles shifted.

Sales have grown in every country where Ducati motorcycles are being sold – Italy (+51%), Spain (+38%), UK (+36%), Germany (+24%), France (+23%) and USA (+10%). And the introduction of new models has been successful, especially the Ducati Scrambler which has already seen more than 9,000 bikes sold. Other Ducati successes include the Multistrada 1200 (4,700+ sold), Monster 821 (3,700+ sold) and Panigale (3,000+ sold).

It’s good news for CEO Claudio Domenicali, who took over in 2013 after 21 years at the company. And for the Volkswagen, who own Audi, who own Lamborghini, who own Ducati. In addition to keeping things Italian when Ducati was acquired in 2012, it apparently also means the benefits of Ducati fuel economy and emissions ratings are passed onto the supercar manufacturer.
It also means VW can borrow the 1199cc engine from the Superleggera and put it into their VW XL1 lightweight ecocar to give it 0-60mph in just over 5 seconds and a 168mph top speed.
Probably doesn’t hurt that Ducati is offering a £750 performance voucher alongside finance on a number of models in the range. Choose from the Panigale and Diavel, or various Monsters. If you need any advice on getting a good deal with motorcycle finance, we’ve shared our tips and experience. And obviously if you’re thinking about a Ducati Scrambler, there have been a bucket load of custom examples for inspiration.
