Hipsters, landed gentry and the cast of Spooks will be interested in the new wax cotton jackets from Knox. Joking aside, the classic motorcycle style of wax cotton suits a ride into town or stopping in the local pub more fun than if you’re hunched over in a set of one-piece leathers. The downside is usually that more stylish a wax cotton jacket, the less effective it is at actually protecting you. But the Knox Studio Collection might have found the answer.
All the Knox Studio Collection are designed to look good when you’re not on a bike, but have a zip running from the cuff to waist to expand the jackets to expand by an entire size and fit an armoured shirt and warm mid layer underneath.
The Leonard is the male jacket, while ladies get the Knox Lea. The modern washed wax make them more supple, and both can have an optional matching waterproof hood with taped seams and full lining.
The Knox armoured shirts are made from soft stretch and have CE-approved armour at the shoulders, elbows and back.
Both jackets are waterproof and breathable with a 10k membrane laminated to the inside of the jacket, and have a breathable cotton lining inside with taffeta in the sleeves to get them on and off more easily. And the external zips are YKK Aquaguard to resist water.
The wax cotton jackets are actually machine washable, with no need for re-waxing afterwards. The Knox Leonard Wax Waterproof Jacket for Men is available in Brown or Black, in sizes S-XXXL and costs £229.99. The Knox Lea Wax Waterproof Jacket for Women comes in Black or Blue/Black in sizes XS-XXL and also costs £229.99. Knox armoured shirts start from £99.99.
