Londoner Gino Rea is returning to racing in Britain in 2018 after racing in European championships since 2007. He won the European Superstock 600 championship in 2009, and has since competed in World Supersport on Honda, Kawasaki and MV Agusta machines. He also raced in Moto2 for three years, taking a memorable second place in Malaysia in 2012 when the race was red-flagged due to bad weather. And now BSB star Gino Rea gets sponsorship covered by BeMoto – meaning one less thing to worry about.
This year he competes in British Superbikes for OMG Racing on a Suzuki GSX-R1000. And he’s being sponsored by BeMoto, a specialist motorcycle insurer. The insurance firm is based in Peterborough and is owned, run and staffed by motorcyclists. And as a result they offer a wide range of products which are specifically tailored to cover all types of specialist motorcycles and riders. That includes areas like off-road, modified, track and race cover.
One area important to racers and road riders is personal accident and injury policies.
“I was looking for a personal insurance policy but was really struggling, then I discovered just how many products BeMoto offer for riders.
“It’s not just the options of road and track riding cover for personal injuries and income protection, but track bikes, off-road bikes, race vans and transporters – everything. It was really quite surprising. Having such a switched-on insurer like BeMoto protecting me gives me extra confidence going into the season ahead.”
The British Superbike season kicks off over the Easter Weekend from Saturday March 31, 2018. The majority of the races take place on Easter Monday at the Donington Park circuit. Rea and the #44 Suzuki GSX-R1000 will be competing for the all-new OMG Racing team up against series regulars including Donington BSB lap record holder Shane Byrne, and 2017 runner-up Leon Haslam, whose title challenge ended with a major accident at the final round at Brands Hatch.
If you can’t make it to Donington Park this weekend, you can watch how Gino and the rest of the British Superbike championship get on via Eurosport 1 and 2 throughout the weekend, with Race Highlights on ITV4 on Wednesday, April 4th and Quest on Thursday April 5th, 2018.
