The wax jacket is a great bit of biking kit. It may suit traditional motorcycles more, but it’ll keep you dry and safe riding anything in a pinch. And it’s also more acceptable in the pub, or doing the weekly shop, than a set of one-piece leathers. And while fashion might have jacked up the price of some brands, you can still get a good mix of protection and style at a fair price, as these two new Weise wax cotton motorcycle jackets prove. There’s the traditional, longer Glenmore, and the shorter Ashland for those of slightly smaller stature or wanting to ride a wider range of bikes more comfortably.
The Weise Glenmore Wax Cotton Motorcycle Jacket:
The Weise Glenmore is the longer, more traditional jacket of the pair. It comes in a choice of Black or Brown in sizes SM-3XL for £189.99.
The Weise Glenmore wax cotton motorcycle jacket is obviously a traditional design for loitering near vintage motorcycles and old railway tracks. It’s constructed from 600 denier waxed cotton with vintage style press-stud fasteners on the pockets and cuffs, plus a buckle to fasten the collar.
While it may have the required retro style looks, the modern features inside should keep your comfortable. There’s a fixed waterproof and breathable lining, plus a detachable thermal liner. And for safety there are CE-approved shoulder, elbow and back protectors. You can also alter the fit with two zipped side gussets and the belt above the waist. Storage is taken care of by four external pockets and two inside.
The Weise Ashland Wax Cotton Motorcycle Jacket:
Wax cotton jackets are great, but they can look a bit odd if you’re shorter. And if you ever have to swap to sports bikes or anything that requires a bit more of a crouch, they can get in the way a bit. Which is why the Weise Ashland wax cotton motorcycle jacket has a sportier cut.
It still has retro looks, but will work across a range of bikes and scooters without getting in the way. Although you will get a little less weather protection around the waist as a trade-off. But the slightly more modern design of the 600 denier waxed cotton outer will still work socially as well as on your motorcycle. And you also still get a fixed waterproof and breathable lining, a removable thermal liner, and CE-approved shoulder, elbow and back protectors.
You don’t need the same belt as the Glenmore, so it’s a bit more streamlined. And you do get a popper and Velcro secured storm flap over the main zip, plus a Neoprene-trimmed collar. And you also get the same choices of Black and Brown colours, and SM- 3XL sizes, and for £169.99.
Both of the two new Weise wax cotton motorcycle jackets also come with the Weise 2-year warranty, which means you can expect decent use out of them before you’ll need to go shopping for a new jacket.
