If you like classic and cool customs, then you should take a look at this 1978 Harley-Davidson Ironhead Chopper for sale on eBay at the moment. Not only is it an interesting bike, but it’s also up for auction as the owner apparently lost a couple of fingers in a pulley accident – so he could probably do with getting a good price for the Harley.
And there’s a whole shopping list of parts and work in the bike. It’s a 75th Anniversary Harley-Davidson imported from the U.S in the 1990s and then worked on by Boneshaker Choppers. That included welding a David Bird bolt-on hardtail in place. The new tank has been painted by Michael Geltz, and it now has Pangea Speed bars, grips, mirrors and a kicker pedal.
It also has an 18″ NOS 1970s Sevenstar Mag wheel at the rear, and a 21″ rim at the front which has a hamburger drum form an earlier model to run a more vintage front brake without a master cylinder. There’s also a NOS 1970s Aris unit for a front headlight, and a rear LED, a custom Bonesakers sissy bar, and similarly custom black mid-level exhaust pipes (with removable baffles).
There are a few bits of fettling required, and lots more pictures (and a Youtube video) all detailed via the eBay listing. And pictures from a previous magazine feature as well…
At the moment, the 1978 Harley-Davidson Ironhead Chopper has yet to have a bid, but there’s a starting price of £5,000 and five days left. So we’d imagine the price will start to rise in the near future..
